[NaNoWrimo] The shark is working…

Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more;
NaNoWrimo‘s website database wipe and upgrade has always been a fun thing to watch, two weeks before the first of November, the website has currently been revamped and 75-80% of the options are working.
Now, as for whether the website won’t get slagged during the first week will be another story.

On the iPad 2 front, I decided to take the plunge and bought Storyist App and beyond the occasional spell check gone awry, the app is worth getting just for the formatting options. The Dropbox support is the cherry on the top and as much as I’d love to use Pages, Apple has yet to roll out the Pages update to include iCloud support.
Currently, my work flow goes like this: write in iA Writer, upload to Dropbox, download from Dropbox into M$ Word and reformat. As much as I enjoy using Scrivener to make temp ebooks, the spell/grammar check in M$ Word is really the deal breaker for me.
For those interested in Scrivener, it does have a 30 day trial and if you finish 50k novel for NaNoWrimo and verify, they usually have a 50% discount. Scrivener is Mac/PC.
For those not wanting to pay the $9.99 for Storyiest, I’ve been using iA Writer for a while and it’s barebones enough and the Dropbox support helps it a lot.
For this year’s novel it will be a sequel to my current work in progress and both of them are going to planned novels. Generally in the past I’ve been a by the seat of my pants writer and while NaNoWrimo encourages that to a small extent, I think it’s hurting me so, I’m about three pages into a synopsis going scene by scene.
So far the DEATH BAR count on the current work in progress:

MontiLee brought up a good link in one of her FB postings last night, Write or Die now has a Word War Buddy option. The app is $10 and cross platform.
And, I’m going to try my hand at designing a book cover for both my works in progress.
Only 20 days to go…and if you don’t have a Dropbox account, you can’t back up your stuff to too many places, go sign up now.
