[Web Series] Video Game High School Season 2…

vghs
The Guild has shown year after year that if you create, finance and stream it the they will watch. Under the Geek & Sundry banner they’ve partnered with Youtube to bring out content that is refreshing to say the least.
There have been other web series as well, Standard Action, Freddie W’s Rocketjump series of shorts that is essentially ten to fifteen minutes worth of an action movie. Halo’s Forward Unto Dawn was a web series on a big budget. And let’s not forget granddaddy Red Vs. Blue.
While The Guild is focused on the massive multiplayer online role playing games (MMORPG) Video Game High School embraces console gaming.
The cast of characters is occupied with different genres from first person shooters (FPS) to Racing to Music. Each episode had just enough drama and pixel violence thrown in to keep me occupied during SDCC.
It’s great to see RPGs and cart racing will be covered in Season 2. It be nice to see RTS make an appearance.
The length of the episodes has been expanded upon as well from under ten minutes to thirty so it’s more like a television show.
Season 1 can be found here while Episode 1 of Season 2 just dropped this morning.

[Digital Freedom] The #veronicamars kickstarted…

Sometime before 9pm last night the official Veronica Mars movie was funded on Kickstarter.
And, it has 29 days to go.
I guess Veronica in Space is a go then?
I’ve funded a few things a Kickstarter, mostly books and even a H. P. Lovecraft con in Rhode Island.
So, will this open the doors to more projects and do what The Guild did for independent web series?
Excellent question.
Firstshowing.net‘s post covers most of the bases including the elephant in the room that is Firefly.
I think using Kickstarter to fund your project and Youtube to roll it you have a great one two punch just ask Geek & Sundary, Neridst and more.
The tools have been here for a while but the only thing one would need to worry about is the execution.
Good execution and you’ll blast it out of the park.
If you stumble and fall then it’ll be a costly learning experience but a experience none the less.
Wouldn’t mind seeing a Slingers Kickstarter project, the trailer looked fun.

[BSG VIDEO] BSG:Blood and Chrome: Parts 1 and 2…

My background knowledge is fairly light when it come to William Adama’s backstory and after nearly 3 years of a vacuum (I’m not counting the misstep of Caprica), I could care less if Blood and Chrome doesn’t adhere to cannon.
I just wanna see Battlestars, Toasters and Classic Cylons and Blood and Chrome does all that.
Thank you SyFy for not picking it up and then releasing it only to see if it does well.
There’s a good reason why I only watch the channel now for Warehouse 13, Lost Girl and Continuum/Primeval (when they arrive)…..oh right.
That’s it.
Anyway, here’s the first two parts, as they drop I’ll post’em…
Part 1:

Part 2:

[Viral Video] Save Greendale

Community has been one of the better new shows on NBC in the last few years.
I’d be shaking my fist at CBS for moving Big Bang Theory to Thursday Nights if I actually watched Big Bang Theory but the characters drive me up a wall. Instead I’m shaking my fist at the eroding ratings due to both shows going to head to head with each other since NBC hasn’t canceled Whitney and instead gave it a full season.
So, with the mid season here, NBC said Community be returning it sometime in 2012 here’s a lovely video to tide us over until sometime in 2012.

[Geekdom] Apple IIC, IIE and IIGS represent…

Well, I can tell you where I was when I found out Steve Jobs news went out.
Driving home from a quick jam session to hash out details of student film I’m helping to write, both of us with Apple products at the table at Panera.
I was introduced to Apple in Junior High School with an Apple IIE and IIC and graduated to High School with an Apple IIGS. Appleworks being my bread and butter for a long time, so many bad self insertion novels so little time.
And even managed to make it to a Applefest where I saw Richard Garriott aka Lord British.
Say what you will about the prices of Apple’s products, the man and his vision will be missed.
