“Body of Proof” finally has a start date. The new ABC drama series, which is set in Philadelphia but has been filming around Rhode Island for months, will debut Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at 10 p.m.
Dana Delany stars as Dr. Megan Hunt, a neurosurgeon turned medical examiner after an accident ends her days in the operating room. Jeri Ryan, John Carroll Lynch, Nicholas Bishop and Sonja Sohn are featured.
The new series was originally slated for a fall airing on Friday nights, but the network decided to hold on to the show and wait for a better timeslot.
Delany, executive producers Christopher Murphey, Matthew Gross and Sunil Nayar will be at the State House Friday at 9 a.m. for an event in the Governor’s State Room arranged by the Rhode Island Film & TV Office.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Cameras are coming; so, too, are lights and trucks and all the trappings of filming for a new TV series: “Body of Proof.”
The ABC series will be shooting in downtown Providence on Tuesday. The crew will be filming scenes on Empire Street, Washington Street and Fountain Street. And support trucks for the shoots will be on Greene Street.
The roads will be open to local traffic, but many parking spaces will not.
“Body of Proof,” which is being shot entirely in Rhode Island, features criminal investigations aided medical investigations. The show stars Dana Delany, who plays a medical examiner, and Jerri Ryan, who plays her boss.
No date has been set for the show’s debut, which was originally scheduled for this fall and is now expected to air early next year.

“Body of Proof,” the new TV series to air on ABC in the fall, will be made in Rhode Island, with pre-production beginning in June and filming to start in July, Steven Feinberg, executive director of the R.I. Film & TV Office, announced Tuesday morning.
“More jobs will be immediately available to our local crew and talent pool,” Feinberg said in a press release. “The production will quickly feed new money into our state’s small businesses and help pump up Rhode Island’s economy.”
The pilot for the series, which stars Dana Delany, who most recently appeared in “Desperate Housewives,” was filmed in Rhode Island in March. In May, ABC approved the pilot for production as a series.
