Tag: draft zero war

Welcome to September…

2 months until NaNoWrimo.
Current word count on the draft is:

Plotwise so far: Heroine’s family has been kidnapped. Heroine was helped by magic helper via a birthday present and now she is well on her way to fleeing the Council Goons who have been sent to stop her, find whoever is doing this and kick some ass.
Metrics: If I keep plodding along like this I’ll be done the first week of October. Thankfully, there are several thousand K to be added to Act 2 once I reach the end of Act 1.
Beta Readers: Will need some, soon. Any volunteers?

Draft Zero Update…

So we come to end of August and the current draft work count looks like this…

Remember how I said I wasn’t too happy with the opening, well I fixed that and moved the rest of the draft to an blank document until I can copy it back. Our heroines are in danger in the first fifty pages. Now they must get out of it without help from anyone else.
And, I’ve moved my goal to 100k.
Have sent in email to NaNoWrimo to be the Co-ML for RI this year. Recon of the coffee houses in Fox Point and Providence proper will begin next week since Reflections is gone and never comin’ back. Probably going to aim for 100k this year instead of 50k.

Welcome to August…

brought up an excellent question: How’s your draft coming along?
The opening I had planned was going well I thought until several questions arose.
The first being do I wait a hundred pages establish this universe or do I hit the ground running by page six and reposition the original opening to later in the book.
So far I tried both ways and I’m liking the hit the ground running stage.

June's Draft Zero Update…

Welcome to June’s first Draft Zero Update.
A brief background: Draft Zero is a draft I started back during NaNoWrimo 2009 while working and going to school full time. I decided it was high time to finish one of my drafts and put ass in seat in April since I was done with school.
And then Rhode Island got flooded at the beginning of April and put everything on hold.
General synopsis of the draft: Science Fiction/Action/Adventure involving magic, mechs, cats, bats and more. All of which I hope without Star Trek technobabble.
Overall, I’m happy where things are headed with the draft. I’ve been burst writing here and there, leaving it for a few days going back in, correcting spell checks and such.
Currently, I am around page 75. The 37k on the counter in the sidebar will be encompasses the 75 pages and the draft pages from NaNoWrimo integrated back into the novel sooner or later. I have a general idea where the book is going while I’ve sketched out additional books in what could be a series I am keeping this book stand alone for now.
Once I get finished I will need some beta readers beyond the usual suspects so if anyone is interested drop me a line.

Draft Zero War: Update…

So with the water gone from the basement and things back to normal time to look at Draft Zero and see what’s savable.
A brief history of Draft Zero for those just joining us. The story takes place in a universe I’ve been toying with for a while and during NaNoWrimo 2009 I think I settled on a good mix of action, adventure, science fiction and young adult themes.
The word counter has been added to the sidebar and will be updated weekly.
The word count so far.

Draft Zero War…

I decided sometime during NaNoWrimo 2009 that I needed to finish one of my many half baked novels.
And, since SDCC 2010 is my vacation/thank god I’m done with school, one of my projects will be to finish a complete draft of a novel with the end result of sending to an agent. If Stephanie Myer can unleash the hell that is Twlight upon the unsupecting world then so can I. Hopefully with less sparkles.
To keep things interesting and on my toes I tapped my old word war pal from NaNoWrimo and sed: Ya wanna? She said sure. She’s the one in my NaNoWrimo Counter that wrote 150k words in November.
So, April 1st is when I plan to start while using these two weeks as prep time. If you see posts labeled DZW with a counter then that’s boring update post. If anyone else wishes to join in as well, the more the merrier. I’ll throw together some icons during the prep time.
It should be noted that Script Frenzy continues to thrive and kicks off April 1st, I wish everyone good luck with that.
While all that goes on the other project will be to get the online portfolio site completed…
